On November 14, 2024, Water Pollution Control was notified of a sewage leak on the ground at 700 N. Broadway. City staff responded promptly and discovered a leak originating from a 4-inch sewer line. The sewage was visibly leaking through the ground surface.  Staff jetted the line to clear the obstruction stopping the leak. A contractor was hired to assess the blockage of the 4-inch sewer line. Finding tree roots to be the cause, the contractor cleared them in able to restore normal flow through the line.  City staff cleaned the affected area including the storm runoff creek located nearby. Creek contaminated signs were posted around the storm runoff creek, advising the public to avoid contact with the area until testing could confirm that E.coli levels were within a safe, normal range.
