City Commission

As the City's governing body, the Commission is responsible for:

• Establishing policies.

• Allocating resources through the adoption of the annual operating budget, five-year capital improvement program, ordinances, and resolutions.

• As part of the policy-making process, the City Commission relies upon input from boards and commissions. The City Commission is responsible for making appointments to boards and commissions.

• Appoints the City Manager, who oversees day-to-day operations and manages City staff.

Constituent requests to the Commissioners may be processed through the City Manager, City Staff or when appropriate, requests having policy implications may be presented to the entire Governing Body.

The Leavenworth City Commission holds regular meetings at 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at City Hall, 100 N. 5th Street, Leavenworth, Kansas, 66048. In addition to regular meetings, Commissioners may hold a study session on the third Tuesday of each month.

A printed full agenda packet is available for viewing at the City Clerk's Office, 100 N. 5th Street, Leavenworth. Video of City Commission meetings is shown daily on Cable Channel 2 in Leavenworth for cable subscribers at 6 p.m.
