Memorial Day closures for 2024, Wollman Aquatic Center to open

The City of Leavenworth offices and the Riverfront Community Center will close for the Memorial Day holiday Monday May 27.

Trash normally collected on:

  • Monday May 27 – will be collected Tuesday, May 28
  • Tuesday May 28 – will be collected Wednesday May 29
  • Wednesday May 29 – will be collected Thursday May 30
  • Thursday May 30 – will be collected Friday May 31
  • Friday, May 31- will be collected Saturday June 1.

Large item trash will not be picked up curbside the week of May 27-June 1.

The City’s Free First Saturday event has been moved from Saturday June 1 to Saturday June 8. This event is an opportunity for residents to take advantage of City services at no additional charge, including:

  • Brush Site - 1803 N. Second Street, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Accepts brush, branches, trees must be free of dirt and less than 12 inches in diameter, no roots or root systems still attached
  • The Self-Serve Recycling Center:  Lawrence and Pennsylvania streets 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This facility is always free to Leavenworth City residents.
  • Large Item Drop-Off: Behind the Municipal Service Center, dumpsters are provided for residents at the north entrance (Pennsylvania and Lawrence) to drop off materials such as large appliances, furniture and trash between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tires are not accepted at this event.

Wollman Aquatic Center, 1300 Shawnee Street, will open for the season May 27. Hours of open swim are 1 – 7:30 p.m. Daily admission is $4 for City of Leavenworth and Fort Leavenworth residents and $5 for residents living in other areas. For those wishing to purchase early summer passes, the cashier window will be open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. May 20 – 24. After that, summer passes will be on sale during the pool’s open hours.
