Legacy Tree Program

2019 Arbor Day Tree

Leavenworth is fortunate to have over 400 acres of park land throughout the city.  Trees provide beauty, shade, and environmental benefits. Many of the trees in our parks are older and are beginning to show signs of disease or decay. While much of the funding for necessary pruning and replanting is provided through the Parks Department budget, there is a continuing need for supplemental funding in the tree planting and maintenance budget.

For this reason, the Leavenworth Parks and Recreation Department established the Legacy Tree Program. Through this program, old trees will be replaced and new areas rejuvenated. All contributions to this program are placed in the Park Special Gift Fund and are only used for the planting of Legacy trees. Legacy Tree Program supporters will be able to see their contributions live on in each tree that is planted -- a gift that keeps giving!

The Legacy Tree Program makes it possible to help preserve the rich history of trees in our parks while commemorating either a person or event.

When you buy a tree our Parks Department will order the tree and the plaque, plant the tree, and maintain the tree as part of our regular park maintenance program.  If your tree needs to be replaced due to damage or disease, the fee covers one replacement tree.
