Winter storms predicted February 11-14, 2025

City Manager's office | Feb. 10, 2024
City crews are preparing for three separate winter storms that are on track to reach Leavenworth throughout the week. The first storm is likely to arrive late Monday and continue throughout Tuesday morning. This storm is expected to bring about 2 inches of snow. The second storm will arrive on Tuesday night, and continue throughout Wednesday. Snowfall for the second storm is predicted to be 5 and 10 inches. It will also bring with it frigid temperatures and wind chills. The third, and final, storm is tracking to reach Leavenworth late Friday night into early Saturday. Snowfall predictions are not yet known, but this storm could bring ice with it as well.
Between the three combined events, Leavenworth could see 10 inches or more of snow the week of Feb. 11-15. City crews are pretreating the roads by applying brine and salt. We are asking vehicle owners to please remove any vehicles parked on the street, if possible, to keep the roads clear for plows and emergency vehicles. Contractors will be brought in, if necessary, to assist with snow removal on residential streets and downtown.
If you have any questions or concerns, you can call our Municipal Service Center at 913-682-0650. We will do our best to address issues as they are reported to us. Please understand that our first priority is to ensure emergency vehicle access to all City streets. This means that we can’t guarantee that streets will be clean from curb to curb, especially if there are vehicles parked in the street.
Please drive safe, and stay off of the roads if you are able.
