Throughout the City of Leavenworth, 19 license-plate readers at five major intersections have been installed to aid the Leavenworth Police Department in tracking criminal activity since 2023. They do not have speed radar. It's not a 'red light' camera system. Police intend to use these tools to assist in serious crimes such as vehicular theft, helping prevent a need for high-speed car chases and in use to investigate major car accidents.

Additionally, Leavenworth KS PD utilizes real time alerting of hotlist vehicles to capture wanted criminals.
