Admin Battalion Chief/Fire Marshal

This position is responsible for supervisory, administrative and technical work assisting the Fire Chief in directing the City of Leavenworth Fire Department to include fire suppression, prevention, technical services and administration. Administers the enforcement of federal, state and local fire codes, city ordinances and fire department policies for the purpose of maintaining new and existing buildings and properties within the City.  Responds to and investigates all major fires and all suspicious or undetermined fire causes in coordination with the Kansas Fire Marshal’s Office and/or assigned Police Department personnel.

Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s Degree with major course work in fire science, public administration, or a closely related field; 10 years continuous and progressively responsible experience in an organized fire department of comparable size, with at least 3 years in direct supervisory capacity; EMT-B or Paramedic certification; IFSAC Fire Service Inspector Level I certification; must possess a valid state driver’s license without record of suspension or revocation in any state at time of application.

Salary Range:  $73,064– $91,330 DOQ + excellent benefits
