City vs. County

  1. The Leavenworth County Treasurer's office is at the old Leavenworth County building, 300 Walnut St. They provide such services as:
    • Vehicle Registration
    • Vehicle Inspections
    • Property tax payments

    • Filing for a political office
  3. District Court, or the First Judicial District Court of Leavenworth and Atchison counties, is separate from the City of Leavenworth and handles serious criminal cases, marriage licenses, divorce, probate and small claims. In Leavenworth they are at 601 S. Third Street, Suite 3051. at the Leavenworth Justice Center.
  4. Municipal Court is a city division. There are no jury trials, but they handle traffic violations and violations of city ordinances. They are also in the Leavenworth Justice Center at 601 S. Third St. Suite 3017.
  5. Both Leavenworth County and Leavenworth city have a Planning Department, which deals with land use policies and procedures.
